May 2026 Writing & Life Update

We’re nearing the end of Mod Superhero. The finale is officially done, and now we’re at the epilogue. I think I’ve got 2 more chapters left to write. I’m already working on importing/formatting the earlier chapters.

I’ve got a big, weird mix of emotions swirling around.

Of course I’m feeling excited, but I’m also feeling sentimental, some senioritis, and some imposter syndrome—all rolled into one. I’m wrapping up my longest series to date and saying goodbye to those characters. I’m relieved that Mod Superhero has been so well received by fans, but I’m also worried about sticking the landing. At the same time, I feel like I’m coming into my own as a writer, and I’m ready to start the next story.

Like I said, it’s a big mix of emotions!

Reading/Listening recap:

While I’ve been writing Mod Superhero these past few years, I’ve had a bit of a moratorium on superhero stuff. I didn’t want to risk ideas, storylines, or characters bleeding over. Not because Mod Superhero is that awesome, but I didn’t want to rip off anyone else’s ideas.

Now that I’m at the finish line, I’m finally getting to read some of the superhero stories that I’ve had on the reading list.

So I’ve been reading the web serial “Worm” by Wildbow. It’s a dark, gritty superhero story following a cape with bug-controlling powers. It’s massive and epic, and I’m already a quarter of the way through my binge.

I’ve already read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (except for the newest one, so no spoilers!!!) but I recently listened to book 1. The narrator Jeff Hays definitely elevates an already awesome story. Now I’m listening to “Just Add Water”, the autobiography by Olympian swimmer Katie Ledecky.

I think that’s it for updates. Catch you guys in a month.
